Charlie Hensley: Home

A Snowy Lady

Welcome to Charlie's Home...

Thanks for visiting, and please feel free to browse around. You'll find plenty of information about my work as a producer, director, teacher and actor.

There are also links here to articles I've written for American Theatre magazine, including "For Working Actors, The Readiness Is All" and "No Business Like Noh Business."

I'm currently developing two fantastic pieces with playwright David McCann: "Grand," the story of a teenage girl's coming to terms with her beloved grandmother's battle with Alzheimer's Disease, and "Immortal Longings," a two-hander with a terrific role for one of the great ladies of the classical stage.

Finally, here are some plays I love that deserve productions soon at a theatre near you:

"Climbing Tiger Mountain," Laurence Carr's chamber epic about the Korean War and the confrontation between President Harry Truman and General Douglas MacArthur.

Paul Zimet's "Bitterroot," in which we join Lewis & Clark and live the actor's life in 19th Century America, with music by Peter Gordon...

Caridad Svich's "Alchemy of Desire/Dead Man's Blues," about love, loss and some powerful mojo in a time of war, and...

"Wet," a seagoing escapade aboard a very special pirate ship, by Liz Duffy Adams.

All offers of funding and space will be cheerfully entertained.
